Philosophy
This is the part of the website designed to make your brain hurt. It is also the portion most likely to
cause controversy. And we wouldn't
have it any other way.
Most of Peter’s writing deals with philosophical issues. In keeping with his motto (“If you
write for no reason you have no reason to write”), Peter rarely writes anything
of significant length without having developed a philosophical point of some
kind. Usually, more than one point
is present.
This can often be found by examining the characters in Peter’s writing. Most of the time, the protagonist
will have a worldview diametrically opposed to the antagonist. It is important to note that just
because a protagonist may hold to a specific philosophical worldview, that does
not mean that Peter holds that view too.
In fact, Peter says: “I don’t believe I’ve ever written a character that
completely agrees with my philosophical views on anything. Some are closer than others. But in the end, each character holds
his or her own beliefs and acts consistent with them.”
In order to clarify what Peter believes, as well as to flesh out particular
philosophical positions, this section of the website will present a wide variety
of seemingly random articles. Some
will be based on questions Peter has been asked; some on topics he thinks it
would be beneficial to address; some because he ate pizza after midnight. And if you find they are of no use
whatsoever, you can send a self-addressed stamped envelope to your
congress-critter and ask for a refund.
